This is our 2nd year participating in Children's Ministry Day. This year we worked on 2 projects to meet Health Needs of our Community. We collected Kleenex boxes for the local nursing home here and the children made a card to attach to each box for the residents. We also gathered materials to make First Aid Kits for the residents of Sequoyah Village, an assisted living apartment complex. We had 18 children participating in the preparation and 9 that was able to deliver. Our children's ages range from 2 to 17 years old. It was a rainy day in Madisonville, TN on February 14th, but it did not bother our children any. As we delivered the First Aid Kits, our children shared God's love and gave a concert in the quad for them. Most of the residents remembered us from last year and were very excited to see us again. The children were very eager to work for Jesus and were not shy to tell others of Jesus Love. It is a great ministry for them to participate in and a great witness to our adults to see children at work. We are looking forward to next year.

The RAs and GAs at West Jackson planned a Children's Health Fair. We asked for toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer and pocket kleenex from our membership. We also planned healthy snacks for the event. We enlisted a pediadontist, a peds physician, an eye technician, a wound care nurse and 3 nursing students to share health information with the children. We also had a clown and a church member who makes balloon art to attend.
Our guests were children from an apartment complex where we have an ongoing ministry. The children were given individual attention by all our health care professionals. We also gave them the items we had collected at each station. We made the CMD Bible verse into a puzzle and the children got a piece of the puzzle at each station. We had two college students do face painting. We also had a crafts table set up so the children could make a book mark and a Valentine to take home. Our healthy snacks were Pigs in a Blanket, carrot strips, apple wedges, pretzels and a Valentine cookie and water. We had a great time with the health fair and ministering to our own children as well as our guests. |

This is our second year of participating in Children's Ministry Day. Thirteen children from our church, Denton Baptist in Cosby, Tennessee, participated in the event. We hosted a chili/soup supper at our church. Prior to the supper we had a guest speaker, Savannah, an eleven year old girl who was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of two. She and her mom spoke to our congregation about the disease. Our ministry doesn't stop here. We will be raising money and walking in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation walk in May. We hope to raise lots of money to go toward finding a cure for this disease.

This is our second year our Forest Hill Baptist Church (Maryville, Tennessee) Children in Action group has participated in Children's Ministry Day. This year we made 50 valentine goody bags for the employees of the Emotional Health and Recovery Center at our local hospital. We filled the bags with candy, single coffee bags, packs of hot chocolate, gum, a candle, popcorn, tissues, a homemade valentines day card, and a tract. We received two thank you notes telling our group of how they were very blessed to receive the gifts. The EH&R group does a lot of work helping people, but rarely do they receive anything besides the knowledge of a job well done or the discouragement of a person who does not do well or drops out. So they really were blessed and encouraged by our gifts.

Our church, Ridgedale Baptist, has as part of its outreach an after school daycare called Community Kids. Many of the children are underprivileged. I asked their director how we could minister to them and she really wanted us to make valentines and goody bags for the kids.
For several Wednesdays, we handmade valentines and the girls brought bags of candy. On Feb 11 we assembled 35 bags and presented them to Joyce, the director, to give to the Community Kids. We had enough supplies to make even more bags! The extra bags were given to our hospital outreach, which makes sandwiches for people who are waiting on loved ones having surgery. We had a lot of fun (and made lots of mess) making the valentines. We learned how to do an assembly line while making the goody bags. I was grateful we had the opportunity to serve the community and God through our project. Jennifer Johnson, GA director of Ridgedale Baptist Church |

Our church is located in a rural area in West TN. In fact, the land used to be a cornfield! We decided to have a free Wellness Fair to serve those in our community who might not be able to afford or those who do not have easy access to healthcare and health information. Area health providers came and performed vision and hearing screenings, blood sugar testing, cholesterol checks, measurements (height, weight, body mass index, etc), developmental sceenings, and blood presure checks. Our own church members offered children's health education sessions which included good hygiene, how to handle emergencies, bike and playground safety, and nutrition. The GA's assisted with the registration of the participants and directing them to the areas. We had over 100 people to attend! This was such a success, and we look forward to making this an annual event! It was a good missions experience for the GA's and our entire church.

This was our first year doing the Children's Ministry Day. This is actually my first year teaching this class. I have 5-6 children in the group and 1 assistant. We decided to make care boxes to take to the hospital for families who are there. In the boxes we placed coloring books, puzzles, crayons, books, toys, etc. The idea came when my sister and I were at the hospital for my grandmother. There was a church that came to the waiting room and gave food and drinks and church tracts to people. They also prayed for each family that was there. Our CIA group prayed over the church as a whole while we were there. We had a great time and had a lot of support from our church family.

Our church, Zion Baptist Church, is located in Brownsville, Tennessee. This is our first year to participate in the Children's Ministry Day project. We picked the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home in Cordova to be our recipient this year. Over the course of a few weeks we collected $5 gift cards to Walmart. Our church was very gracious in donating these items. We collected 37 cards in all and every child at the home got to receive one. On Feb. 14th we took a group of 9 girls, myself and two assistants to the childrens home. We hand delivered the cards and got to tour the facilities. I personally think this was a great experience for these girls. Our hearts and prayers go out to the kids at this facility and we hope they have a great time shopping. It is my desire to participate in this event next year too.
Also, we collected stuffed animals for the nursing home residents for Valentine's Day. We took the stuffed animals to them on Wednesday night, Feb. 11. It is always a blessing to see the elderly people interact with the girls.
