Our GA's and RA's decided to do the A Heart-y Breakfast.  We got the ministry project idea from the Children's Day promo kit.  The Brotherhood from our church donated the pancakes, bacon, drinks, and trimmings.  The men also cooked the pancakes for us.  The children served and waited the tables.  Over 100 people came to the Pancake Breakfast.  The children raised over $500.  The money was raised to help a little girl in our community who has seizures.  She needs to go to Birmingham at the end of the month.  The little girls has been attending our Wednesday night AWANA program for the past couple of months.  She has to wear a helmet because of the frequency and severity of her seizures.  The money will used to pay for traveling expenses for the family and care packages for the child and her grandmother when they go to Birmingham.

Our G.A. group is relatively new as we started this past October. My co-leader Tammy and I were planning our first Children's Ministry Day when we realized that the date suggested to do this was on the same date that our church was planning our annual Walk For Life in  support of the Cornerstone Pregnancy Center that our church sponsors. At first we thought we would just plan to do something on another date that did not conflict, but we thought about our GA pledge and how we were to be participating in the work of the church. We were wondering how we could get our children involved but still reach out to the community and not just the participants of the walk who were members of various churches in our community that support the pregnancy center. When we were studying about the cowboy church last month we learned how they used water bottles to reach out to people that came to rodeo events and so we approached Lisa our pregnancy center director to see what she thought about the idea of putting labels on water bottles and handing them out to walk participants at the turn around point and also to anyone and everyone that walked jogged or biked past us at this popular public park where the walk was being held. We were excited when we heard how enthusiastic our idea was received and Lisa created some labels for the water bottles we were to distribute. On a Wednesday night a few weeks before the event we put labels on water bottles, one side of the water bottle had information about the pregnancy center and the other side had a scripture verse. We met at the park the day of the event and were driven out by park employees to the turn around point with our ice chests full of water bottles. The children immediately set to work handing out the 'free' water bottles as they told everyone that walked by. Many people in our community took water bottles and we could see them reading the labels as they walked away. We are praying that someone that needs the services the pregnancy center provides will be minister to through what we did today. Also it would be awesome if someone came to Christ out of that ministry. We handed out about 100 water bottles and we ran out of water once our Walk for Life participants got to where we were. Probably 1/3 of them did not get water and next year we are going to be better prepared so that we can continue to hand out water until every walker and community member that passes us receives one. I thought the children might be shy about doing this, but they were so great. They loved it!

I neglected to mention the R.A.'s in my previous post.Embarrassed The R.A.'s and G.A.'s worked together on this event. Danny and his R.A.'s helped us put labels on the water bottles on the Wednesday that we worked on those and they also distributed them alongside us at the Walk for Life. God was definitely in it, everything just fell into place. We are already talking about next year and how we would like to have the brochures about the pregnancy center available to distribute to those who are interested. It's great that children can participate in the work of the church just like adults can and it was just too cool that what we saw as a conflict at first really was an opportunity to participate in the work of the church.

On our childrens mission day, we had a"Flock Sharing Day" This is a free flea market. We invited community, local school and church friends and neighbors. We also had free blood pressure checks and evangelistic face painting. A clown on stilts entertained the children with balloon critters and characteratures of themselves. Refreshments were served and we made Thankyou cards and valentines for all who came. Also there was a craft table for the kids while the adults had fun selecting their free items. Items were toys, household, and clothes. We were blessed by the turn out and grateful to all who donated the items and helped with this event. I am sure our Lord was smiling  at us. and was pleased with what He saw.. The week before we did the Doc skit for our church during childrens time.KThis event was held at our home church in the fellowship hall at Lockhart Baptist Church in Orlando ,Fl.  Mk leaders , Lori Richmond and Arlene Stalnaker

Smile  I am writing in from Anitoch Baptist Church in Live Oak, Florida.  This was our first time to participate in Childrens Ministry Day and what a great time it was.  We had our local Sheriff come out and speak with the whole church about the local abuse shelter (Vivid Visions) and we decided to do a rock-a-thon.  The children collected donations for rocking for four hours and we also had a valentine dinner for donations and all of the proceeds from both will go to Vivid Visions,,,,our sheriff even came out and rocked with us fora while.  What a great day and a great ministry.
Just wanted to add this photo hope you enjoy.  It is from our newspaper

Lisa, before I looked at your photos I was picturing in my minds eye a dance to rock music. Then of course I saw all of your children in rocking chairs and knew I had misinterpreted that, lol. The sheriff rocking was what I was having a hard time imagining until I saw that :) Nice pictures.

We are the GA's of Sand Hills Baptist in Chipley, Florida.  We made "Thank you" goody bags and delivered them to 5 of our local pharmacies (48 bags total) to show our appreciation for the work they do to keep us healthy.  We also collected snacks from our church members and was able to make 2 baskets to deliver to the Tommy Hann, Sr. Cancer Center for the cancer patients and their visitors to enjoy.  Afterwards we celebrated at McDonalds.  We Heart CMD!!!
