Children’s Ministry Day at First Baptist Church, Marion Arkansas.

The Children’s Mission classes of First Baptist Church hosted a “Health Fair” for the community.  Participants received a health screening which included body fat measurement, blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight.  Information was provided for heart care and dental care.

The children enjoyed decorating “Hospital Goodie” bags that were filled with items for families who were staying at the local hospital with family members.  The children also made “Cheerful” cards to be delivered to the local nursing home.  Everyone attending the “Health Fair” plus those who attended Upward Basketball games during the day received a small first aide kit that included a band aide, first aide cream, alcohol wipe and information about our church for there car or purse.

Children’s Ministry Day at First Baptist Church, Maumelle Arkansas
During the month of January and February, First Baptist Church Maumelle’s FirstKids collected items for Family Packs to deliver to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital on Feb. 14th.  Family Packs consist of travel size items for convenience-toothbrushes, small toothpastes, mouthwash, combs, soaps, shampoo/conditioners, lotions, deodorants, razors, and small sewing kits.  Small writing tablets and ink pens were also provided. These items are provided to ACH parents and caregivers who have a need for them during their hospital stay. The children along with their parents and leaders delivered 52 family packs to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital for Children’s Ministry Day (CMD)!

For children's ministry day, we went to a local nursing home and passed out bibles that we had marked in the cowboy church lesson, valentines and sugar free candy. Some of us stayed in the activity lounge and visited and then sang songs, a few others went from room to room to pray with and visit the ones that didn't or couldn't come out. It was very well received and the girls really enjoyed it. We weren't even to the parking lot before they were asking when we could go again.! One of our best projects ever, only second to the angel tree project!

Our Wednesday evening children's program, which is small in number, made beautiful valentines and delivered them to a local nursing home on Wednesday evening, February 11.  Also, the children delivered valentines to two elderly shut-ins.  It had been explained to the children that these residents may be a little scary at first, but that they once had children just like them and the residents just might want to hug them.  When we got to the home, the children took to their distribution like ducks to water.  The children went from room to room to give each resident a valentine.  The interaction between the children and the residents was so inspiring to the adults accompanying the children.  The two shut-ins were so glad to have the visit from the children as well.

(Note: We didn't know about this Children's Ministry Day at the time we chose to do this project.  But, when I found out about this recognition, I wanted to share our story. )

Our GA group from First Baptist Church of Sherwood, consisting of 16 girls and 4 teachers, met at our church kitchen on Feb. 14 at 9:00AM.  We proceeded to bake cookies in the kitchen and then they filled the labeled Valentine bags with the cookies and then tied the top with a ribbon.  We loaded the church vans and were off on a mission trip through the neighborhood around our church.  We delivered bags of cookies & homemade cards to shut ins and just some older church members in the community.  The girls had such a wonderful time and the looks on the faces of the ones we visited will stay embedded in our hearts forever!  I pray that this mission adventure will give the GA's a true heart for missions in a real hand's on way.  Thanks for letting us participate.

EmbarrassedWe had a wonderful Children's Ministry Day.  Our church helps sponors  a food pantry and resale clothes shop for people in need.  THe children along with others helped that day in preparing the food bags and cleaning, folding and looking through clothes that they resale to help pay for the center to stay open.  The Community Pantry helps supply people in need with food at no cost.  I love taking the children so they can relize they are ministring to the people in and around Stephens.

We started collecting travel sized items a couple of weeks before Feb. 14th.  On that Saturday, we came together as a group and made up gift bags of the travel sized items.  We then made cards to go along with each of the bags.  When we were done, we loaded up in our church vans and delivered the goodie bags and cards to our local nursing home.  We visited with the patients as we gave them a bag.  We also took some lotion and gave it to the nurses.  All in all we had a very successful Children's Ministry Day!Thumbs Up

Our children packed and delivered 20 "goodie bags" to our local hospital.  The bags were packed with treats, small toys and games for children who are hospitalized.  The children had a good time both packing and decorating the bags as well as delivering them.  We were met at the hospital by a nurse from the pediatriac floor along with the hospital chaplin, they answered any questions the children had and thanked us for the gifts.  We returned to the church were we played games and had lunch.  Hopefully the children learned that healthy hearts are helpful hearts!
